An absolute gem of a book, a treasure trove of knowledge - priceless!
We bought the Pears' Cyclopaedia for my Father as a birthday gift - a replacement for a much-loved copy which owed its continued existence to sticky tape, elastic bands and a deft touch with page turning. When I asked him to write this review he waxed positively lyrical for two and a half pages; herewith the foreshortened version!
"Why did I want it (the replacement copy)? Well, anything published continuously since 1897 must have something going for it!! Once you have a copy, you don't willingly part with it and it has been a constant companion in our family home, solving many internecine arguments and homework queries over the years. I cannot conceive of a smaller, neater volume which contains such a wealth of clearly expressed knowledge. One of my abiding passions is to test the old grey matter with quizzes and, taken in conjunction with Gingko Biloba, I seem to be improving even at the grand old age of 87. This is not a book for casual entertainment, rather to settle down with at leisure, finding something new and fascinating with every visit.

Perfection in a Palette!
A very good range of useable colours - not many colour palettes can boast that! I've also used the darker brown shades to cover up some grey hairs which suddenly appeared near my parting! Amazing!
