I wanted an alarm clock that is not automated/battery operated and do not depend on anything that I cannot control.

I have a 42HFL5440T/27 Philips tv
1 of 1 found this helpful the remote works but the instructions are not enough. You'll need better explanations to make it work for the 42HFL5440T/27 Philips TV. Witch are:
1 unplug and then plug in the TV
2 power up TV from left side button
3 press RESET button on the remote
4 taste on remote 024995
5 press MENU (HOME) button on the remote
6 turn TV OFF with the remote
7 turn TV ON with the remote
After this this TV should work for programming/ browsing channels
