Back when Swingline made them in the USA!
This vintage Swingline 747 stapler was made over forty years ago in the USA.
It's a great product that'll last many years. I could have purchased a new one. But if I did, it would have been made in China, Mexico, or some other country. Does it matter? Perhaps you should ask the hundreds of people who were employed at Swingline's manufacturing facility in Long Island City, New York.
That facility doesn't exist anymore. And neither do the jobs. Those jobs provided income for American workers; income that paid house payments, car payments, and put food on the table for their families.
How do we keep jobs in the USA? I believe part of the solution is for Americans to demand American made products. Of course, products made in the USA are going to cost more than something made in China. But when you consider the millions of jobs that have been shipped overseas, that seems like a small price to pay.
