This product got good reviews so I got it. Alas, very disappointed. No matter what I look at all I really see are the floaters inside my eye!
It has 300, 600, 1200 magnification, but for a small thing like this that is way too high. Nothing can be seen. Something like 10x to 50x would make more sense. The viewing area (circle) is tiny and nothing gets into focus.
The mechanism that moves the viewpiece up and down to focus is loose so if you don't hold it with your fingers it falls down to the bottom.
I imagine the other similar products, at these low costs, might have the same problems. But essentially, it was useless to me, although the 5 year old is interested in the concept.
And the book that came with it is nice
A bit expensive thus maybe not a good value.
But an excellent reader. I was using a 6 inch reader and got limited text on a page. With this one, it is 7 inches so a lot more text will fit.
I read at night and using dark on light text (as for daytime) was still too bright, but Oasis has a Reverse Text, and that works great...can turn down brightness.
Buttons are very handy for page turns.
To make it really comfortable to hold, an essential in my view is to buy one of those little finger rings that attaches to the back of a smartphone or tablet....they are all over Ebay. Attach that and you just slip your finger in it (on the back of the Oasis) and you can easily hold the reader without gripping it at all Highly recommended.
