Got a defect

Optics are good as per Tiffen's usual quality. Of the several Tiffen filters I have owned, this is the only one with a defective metal frame and/or thread. It binds heavily on my nice old lenses and I am hesitant to use it. I'm concerned that the filter will damage the front thread on the lens: A result inconsistent with Tiffen's usual standard of quality.
