The inductor whines, but still a decent power supply
The instructions were good and assembly was easy.
I kind of wish that the screw terminals would be separated into input/low voltage and output/high voltage (they have a common ground terminal). (Although, I might actually replace them with male headers and solder this on top of another PCB.)
I tested the circuit with a 12 V power supply and a 50 kOhm resistor as a small load. The output went from 107 V to 179 V by adjusting the resistor, but the description does say that the min and max values have some variance (I'll be using this as a 170 V supply).
The biggest downside of the circuit (as mentioned in another review) is that there's a high pitch whine from the inductor. The pitch changes a bit based on the output voltage. Depending on your use case, this might be an issue. I'm hoping the noise won't be too disturbing inside a case, otherwise I might have to buy some other power supply.

Dark brown, not black, but great anyway
The pen's body colour is a dark brown, rather than black, but still looks better than the white version, in my opinion (which I already own).
One thing I was positively surprised by, is that the "eraser" will not wear or leave any residue, because it's not a regular pencil eraser. It's just a silicone/rubber tip, and the ink is erased due to friction (hence the name).
This pen and the Rocketbook Everlast Mini (water-erasable notebook + cloud upload of notes) are the ideal combo for me.

Works well, but you should disable the battery charge circuitry
Works well (Arduino + adafruit/RTClib), but the PCB has a charge circuit and the included battery is not rechargeable, so leaving the PCB as-is may damage the battery.
The battery will last years (in normal "backup" use), so the added expense of a rechargeable battery doesn't make sense. It's still nice to have the circuit there, in case you want to switch to a rechargeable battery.
"Disabling" the charge circuit is easy (just cut one trace on the PCB, google which one).
