Nice kit for a confident beginner at soldering
These are nice kits for a confident beginner at soldering/kit building. This one has the audio connections side-by-side on the front, the smaller design also available on ebay has power and audio-in at the rear, and the volume knob and audio-out on the front. The smaller design seems more elegant but is slightly more challenging because of its size and its use of a few surface mount components. Both designs run well off a PP3 rechargeable battery if you add a PP3 clip and a suitable barrel connector. In both cases the side of the acrylic box happens to be sized perfectly for fixing a PP3 on with a bit of blu-tac. These simple amps do need extremely stable voltage though; for most people that will mean battery operation.

Works well, good value
Easy to install, cleans and rinses well, runs quietly. 10 year parts guarantee offers peace of mind (though who knows what labour charges would be!) Still, seems like good value for the time being.

Good quality curly audio extender cables
Good quality curly cable with a miniature 3.5mm jack plug. I use them to provide strain relief when using headphones and headphone amps -- multiple moving parts, things can get yanked occasionally. They're great for that purpose since when coiled they're compact and highly flexible/resilient.
