dont expect it to last very long
it lasted 5 minutes. The transistor didnt have a high enough rating. But the coil looks useful for custom built projects so gave some kudos

dcc decoder
Bought a couple of these for my Son and they are super easy to install if your trains are DCC ready. If not its just as easy if you are comfortable with soldering iron, to remove existing wires to the contact brushes and put this unit inline. Just be cautious on older trains, they might need a little more planning before unsoldering the old wires.
