Great camera!
Well, for astrophotography is just perfect. Great image quality, low noise, lots of features to customize.
The newer 10 and 12 MP produce more heat which then creates more noise. 8 megapixels is perfect for astrophoto, that is why this camera and the rebel xt still are the best for this great activity.
About every day photography is as good as 40d, but for me is better cause i like to use the big viewfinder. Live view on 40d still anoying and battery killer.
