Great book if you want an overview without much depth. Lightweight with good potographs.
Well done book for a decorator, not architect or interior designer. Lots of pictures to wow potential clients. Not much use to anyone specifying trim. Spots of great writing here and there. Probably will not end up in my library. I think the author tried to cover too much ground in one volume.

Light reading overview of a complex subject.
Very shallow overview of a large range of applications and designs. Short on the historical associations of the different periods, to be fair, this subject matter could easily be divided into a half-dozen or more books. If I don't give it away I will use it to explain concepts to an inexperienced person. Very nice photography.
