THE CONTROLLERS: UNCHAINED!
The Controllers were the house band at Brendan Mullen's the Masque in Hollywood 77, where they would whip an audience into a frenzy. Dripping with sweat, they were the first and last band to play that venue of the early l.a. punk scene. The Controllers were known for their girl drummers Charlie Trash in 1977 and Karla Duplantier in 78. Both brought both color and photographers to shows that could be fierce. DOA Dan played his Vox Phantom bass. Like The Germs, The Controllers emerged from Santa Monica in the Summer of 77 as a beginner band playing a minimalist sound. Yet The Controllers 16 recorded songs penned by Johnny Stingray and Kid Spike were more sardonic and testosterone induced. The band played and practiced at The Masque with The Berlin Brats, The Middle Class, the Screamers, The Go Go's, Alice Bag, The Dils and The Germs in a somewhat communal enviornment. "They didn't like the music they were getting, so they made their own." Lean and mean like Steve McQueen, The Controllers played at a superfast Ramones beat, the tempo most effective in the early l.a. punk scene. The band was managed by the fluxus artist Al Hansen, known as the creator of "Happenings" and as theparatrooper who pushed a piano out a fifth story window in wartime Europe.

Mamiya 645E
The Mamiya 645E medium format (6x4.5) will provide images superior to those of 35mm SLR's and DSLR's. Face it, if you want good images, you'll have to use a brick-like camera. Everyone will know that you mean business when you unveil this ungainly but large-lensed medium format camera.
