** action DVD - Homefront - Jason statham (immaculate condition) **
15 Jan, 2017
weak plot, predictable and too much unnecessary swearing
OK - despite my rather damming summary - I am a big fan of Jason Statham - he always plays a mean moody character so very well. I was hoping that this film (certainly based on the trailers for it which drew me in to want to buy it) would be a good watch, plenty of action, some twists and turns in the plot (maybe!) and an enjoyable hour or so of viewing. Reading through the producers / directors credits (as you do!) as the start of the film I noticed it would produced by Sylvester Stallone -- ooh I thought, he is not known for his behind the camera work -- I wonder if he is any good. Well after the first 5 mins of the film ... I'm afraid to say it was all very telegraphed ... obvious next sequences, simple moves and counter moves .. but an overwhelming torrent of foul language that really wasn't necessary and certainly didn't enhance the film - quite the reverse in fact, it detracted massively from it. Now I am not adverse to the odd "ripe word" myself but whilst watching I found myself counting the swear words (in fairness ... not many are said by Mr. Statham!) and wondering if the script writers are actually getting paid per swear word they use .. in which case -- they would be rather wealthy after this film ! Its a shame because with a bit of cunning or intellect .. the film could have been so much better (I mean - which government agent hides his own personal files underneath the house giving away his identity - its just not going to happen), a bit more thought into the story .. and yes the twists and turns are predictable but it would have so much more watchable. For me .. it was one of those films where I thought .. "Oh Jason .... I do hope you got paid very well for this ... because you will cringe should you ever wish to view it in a few months time". I would score the film 2 out of 10 ... (and it does pain me it say that .. as I am a fan of Mr. Statham). For example, Blitz is tremendous, and the original transporter and mechanic are good classics to watch Thanks Ian
