    Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue
I decided to get a yellowcard album after hearing the track "gifts and curses" on the spiderman 2 soundtrack. Ocean Avenue has the same instrumental virtousity and devastating dynamics that i had previously admired, switching from full-on rock to thoughtful instrumental with total precision. I would particularly recommend the impressive drum display on "23" and the moving and motivational "Beleive". I feel however that it deserves slightly less than full marks because it seems to have been written mainly for musical impact and not so much for real thought content, you can't have everything. (well not often anyway) However I can pretty much guarantee that if you buy this album you will be very pleased and if you've never heard yellowcard before you'll congratulate yourself on your discovery.

Richard and Linda Thompson Pour Down Like Silver
I am a fan of Richard Thompson, his songs demonstrate you can write songs about anything, and when he demonstrates his instrumental ability you can tell he has a unique approach. I thought I'd get a few albums of his and when I got this I thought that it was the gloomiest, slowest, and least inspiring cd I'd ever heard - even more so than my first listen to Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska- and I resented the money I'd spent. Having spent the money however i have persevered and here is my conclusion. Linda Thompson really makes this and all their albums. Even if you have not the slightest interest in their music you MUST hear the track "Dimming of the Day" it is worth buying the cd for, an absolute masterpiece of construction and delivery. as for the rest this may hold the record of the hardest of their albums to get into, but maybe a measure of its worth that it gets more interesting as the months or even years go by.

    Natalie Merchant Tigerlily
Natalie Merchant@s music is is a classy fabric of moods rather than being big on melody. Really striking is second track "Wonder", fantastically upbeat and with a motivating rhythym and it slowly dawns on you that the subject of the track is actually pretty dark, like most of her music. you will not be disappointed by this album.
