Bleak Expectations: The Complete Third Series (Bleak Expectations Complete Serie

Surely Dickens would be proud of this version of Victorian life
I have had the first two series of 'Bleak Expectations' for several years, and enjoyed listening to them, but it is only recently that I have obtained Series 3. It was like being reacquainted with old friends. The characters are so clearly defined, the voices so different, and the plot lines so delightfully eccentric I shall certainly obtain the final series. The writers, Mark Evans and the producer, Gareth Evans should be congratulated in maintaining the high standard of comic humour that they set previously. Well done.

Laugh out loud funny.
Whilst some people might think me hopelessly out of date, I like talking books on CD. In particular I love humour, of the sort so well done by the BBC. Having recently purchased series 4 of Bleak Expectations I now have the complete set. The range of strange characters, the sharp dialogue, and the quirky references to the works of Charles Dickens are a delight. I laugh out loud, and cannot praise the writers and performers highly enough.

Interesting characters, engaging plot, good sense of drama - what more could you want.
Watching this episode made me feel nostalgic about my childhood, because I am old enough to have watched the original. William Hartnell did an excellent job when he created the role of the Doctor; and his companions, played by William Russell and Jacqueline Hill, were shown as mature, sensible people with good ideas of their own. Although the sets reflect the low cost nature of the production I was surprised how little this effected my enjoyment.
