Exactly what I was hoping for
This book costs an arm and a leg for a copy in Good condition. I was hoping to get a clean but slightly beaten-up book at a deep discount. The cover was torn and the adhesive that glues it to the sewn signatures had turned brittle and crumbled. But the pages were clean and unmarked. A bit of scraping to remove the worthless adhesive and some Household GOOP and clear plastic shelf covering to hold the cover on and to patch up the rips, and it's now in Like New condition.
This was supposed to replace my girlfriend's battered, 30-year-old cookbook, but she made me keep it.

Effortlessly displays hi-res photos on my TV
My laptop is old and lacks a HDMI port, but my newly-purchased camera has a micro-HDMI slot. TV automatically changed to the new port, but I had to manually change it back later. Setup took less than a minute, and anything that the camera can do (zoom, move around in the photo, etc.) displays on the TV. It's like a giant monitor; I can clearly see every detail of a shot and can rapidly choose between several redundant candidates (maybe shot with different exposures). Maybe there's slicker ways to get it done, but I'm really pleased with this cable.
