Staedtler Noris HB Pencils Office School Craft Art Drawing

2B Or Not 2B --- That Is The Question...
I bought these for doing shading and they are terrible. Though Staedtler market them as 2B pencils, they're really nothing like 2B pencils --- they are much lighter than 2B (more like HB). The leads might be made with a special break-resistant compound, but that comes at the price of their being far too light in tone. Despite their light tone, they feel greasy, smudge easily and wear down quickly. In other words, they have all the drawbacks of a 2B pencil with none of the benefits. They're useless for shading. In brief, if you want 2B pencils for sketching or shading, avoid these.

Staedtler Should Mark These as HB, not 2B
Staedtler should definitely not have labelled these pencils as 2B pencils --- they are more like HB pencils. Though the leads are indeed soft, they are simply too light for shading and I would not recommend them for artists. They are also a little greasy/messy and smudge easily. However, though I cannot recommend them for art, they're OK for writing, and feel a bit smoother than a typical pencil. I bought twenty of them and was disappointed to find that they were no darker than the twenty HB pencils I already had.

Staedtler Should Mark These as HB, not 2B
Staedtler should definitely not have labelled these pencils as 2B pencils --- they are more like HB pencils. Though the leads are indeed soft, they are simply too light for shading and I would not recommend them for artists. They're also greasy and easy to smudge --- i.e. they have the downsides of a 2B, but without actually being useful for shading. However, though I cannot recommend them for art, they're OK for writing, and feel a bit smoother than a typical pencil. I bought twenty of them and was disappointed to find that they were no darker than the twenty HB pencils I already had. Had I known this, then I'd not have bought them.
