A neat screen for home and studio recording.

Well made product at a reasonable price. Be aware that it is rigid and so will not fold for storage. It is fitted with an adjustable mounting that is is very useful.

Natural sound. Highly recommended for recording on a tight budget.

I am using the microphones to record classical guitar; this was an experimental venture into ribbon-mics. The sound produced is very natural and true to life and I am delighted with the results. The output is lower than I would have preferred, that said they are very sensitive microphones and pick up every detail of sound presented to them. Using paired microphones gives the resultant recording a good sense of presence and the SZ-R1s are likely to be my preferred microphone for the foreseeable future. This is not a comparative review, so my five-star rating is given on the basis that the sound quality is very good and that they offer very good value for money. The microphones come in individual well padded cardboard boxes, and are supplied with suspension cradles and storage pouches; I think that this type of product should be supplied with padded hard cases for storage.
