Cleveland Smart Sole Chipper
My home course plays to a lot of pitch and runs which I have had excellent success using my 7 iron to accomplish. I had a similar chipper with mixed results and thought I'd give this Cleveland a try. As it sits @ 42 degrees with a wide smooth sole it seemed like the ticket for those longer shots off the green. Having used it only a few times I can say I will be keeping it in my bag as the results are pretty good thus far with no actual practice. For me there is two shots with it first playing in back in a similar pitching stance open, with a semi putter stroke. Because of the loft the second shot can be played more center and just execute a pitching stroke to get it up and on. The roll it puts on the ball surprised me. With no practice I was able to get very close or in on those just off the green shots that are too short and flat to pitch with control ie; me, or a hail mary putt from the far side of the green. I chose the Cleveland over similar models from Odyssey, Ping etc. And just like the Cleveland, Ping, TM, Cobra drivers, woods. irons it is a 'game improvement' club. What club isn't or no one would buy them. The chipper was around long before most clubs today right with the advent of the 'spoon.' I had no problem putting it in my bag and excited with the early results. The smart sole model would be my recommendation.

Not so much
I use Callaway, Adams and TE fairways. Disappointed this didn't work for me. Traded it off. Just bought a Callaway Fusion to replace it. Have used the Fusion in a driver with good results expect the same with the 7 wood. I didn't care for the face on the XR 16 as I play a lot with fairway woods and got much better results with my other woods off the deck compared to this model.

Simple and works well.
Does what it's supposed to. Looks good and appears to made well. Should have bought it a long time ago.
