Carrie Underwood Some Hearts
An excellent pop/country album. Highlights include "Wasted", "Jesus, Take the Wheel" and "Before He Cheats". Carrie Underwood has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard and this album whilst a little cheesy showcases this brilliantly and is a great deal of fun.Well worth a repeated listen.

Not what I was expecting.
I had put off buying Beyonce's album B'day because of the unfortunate title. It means birthday but sounded too much like bidet to be taken seriously. However this small niggle aside, this is a terrific album bar a few album fillers that aren't great there are amazing songs to be enjoyed here.Get Me Bodied(I don't know what that mean but it's impossible not to groove too) Suga Mama, Green Light, Flaw and All (a genuinely touching ballad) along with the hits Beautiful Liar with Shakira, Listen from Dream Girls and my reason for relenting and just getting the damn album Irreplaceable.
Part of the reason the album works so well is Beyonce takes on so many different roles in her songs.Being as tough as the boys in hip hop but not pretending to be a man. This is carried through in the excellent videos that accompanying the album where Beyonce is in turns funny sweet sexy as hell and a lot of fun. Beautiful Liar with Shakira there are moments were you can not tell which star is which, showing brilliantly the solidarity each woman has with each other over the cheating man they share, Irreplaceable, so easily could be a song that is just bitter and self delusional but there Beyonce is, stunning, getting over the heartache with her girls, yes they song says she can get another man(this is after all Beyonce- of course she can get another man) but the video shows that it's her girls that help her through making it celebratory. Love it!
Another thing I really really enjoyed was B' pastiching so effortlessly so many other artists and videos. She channels Josephine Baker amazingly in the video for Deja Vu, Sharon Stone or more correctly Catherine Trammel in Ring the Alarm and Robert Palmer's video for Simply Irresistible for the super sexy Green Light, again another video where B' gets support from her girls.
My only quibble is I waited so long to buy this album. I thoroughly recommend that you get the DVD video collection as well because Beyonce is a queen of the music video.
A terrific example of the work of an amazing performer.

Stunning album.
I bought this on the strength of Merriweather's performance on the Marc Ronson version of the Smiths classic "Stop Me".I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't on the album. I quickly got over my disappointment.
Lead single "Impossible" sounds like a remix of the classic Prisoner theme tune and the good tunes, fantastic vocals and brilliant lyrics keep coming. A worthy addition to anyone's music collection.Follow up single "Red" is a break up song that I can believe. Truly Merriweather has the sweetest voice and he can sing.
A real treat.Unsentimental, yet heartfelt. Highly recommended.
