My first wheel, and proper racing game.
7 of 7 found this helpful Hi Folks,
I'm now 49 and enjoyed racing games for a few decades on and off, but never really got into them as such.
I'm slightly more than a casual gamer in terms of game time, but not an expert by any means.
I got into GTA V and the crew I joined had quite a few people interested in racing and I felt most at home there and got quite good. Talking to a few of the other members I started looking at other racing games. I also had an Oculus Rift and decided to give the ' fully immersive ' experience a go so started looking for a wheel that I could use on Project Cars ... I'm on the PC by the way.
I saw a video on YouTube that was comparing the T300 and T500, I decided on the T300 because it sounded like it has a smoother force feedback although not as strong.
I can't really give a great review as this is the only wheel I've used, also I don't actually drive :)
The first thing that impressed me when unboxing it was just how solid everything felt, the weight of the wheel alone inspired some confidence in the build.
Installation of the software was a total breeze, when launched you have a lot of options to tailor the feel to you driving style. I left it on defaults, and have since. When I get more used to racing I'll probably start playing around more.
I also can't say much about the mountings as I ordered a stand alone frame for it at the same time, but the pedal design seems to be solid and well designed with optional feet for solid floors. Because of the footrest design I can see no real problems with using it ' loose '.
My only concern would be the mounting bracket supplied that is designed to connect it to a table, as I explained before mine is hooked up to a frame. Though, given how well the rest works I would imagine it will be fine.
So onto playing project cars with it.
The wheel grip is fine, I've had no problems with it for an hour or so ... Not done longer but think I would run out of energy before it became uncomfortable. The pedals feel good in just socks, never felt my feet were sliding off. The pressure needed to activate the accelerator and break I found great, enough of resistance that you had control without being over bearing.
The buttons on the wheel, to be honest, don't have the greatest of 'feel' to them but works well enough and I don't see any issues with them.
The two gear change levers at the back of the wheel have a really fantastic feel to them, very positive clicks over a long range .... so you don't have to have your fingers over them dead center.
Lastly, feedback ... Love the feedback :) After only a few laps I could feel the difference between over and under steer also when someone had hit me from behind. The MAIN advantage I found ( as a newbie ) was I could feel the sideways force on the car when exiting a corner and balance the throttle to give me the best exit speed.
I was not really concerned about the amount of ' force ' it provided as was more interested in the ' feedback ' side. Having said that, I'm 6' and over 20 stone .. Not exactly small, and still find myself fighting the wheel when I mess up :) Remember you can set the force feedback to suit.
In summary, I'd say this is a good wheel for those looking to step up from a basic one or for their first foray into the mid range wheels.
As I have said before I am not a ' pro ' gamer or have any experience of other wheels ... But for me, it was well worth the investment.
Now excuse me while I go off and try DiRT Rally which should have downloaded by now :)

Makes me look like a gardener :)
Hi Folks,
I am not ' green fingered ' by any definition of the term, I'm an electronics engineer and have pretty much no idea about horticulture :)
I'm just coming to the end of my 4th bag and it makes, even me, look good.
Have used for indoor plants, outdoor pots and planters .... You should see my tomato's and strawberries.
Now to be honest I've not really tried many others, other than cheap superstore stuff, but so happy with this I'll stick with it.

It's OK for the price
Hi Folks,
Was equipping my home electronics room and looking for storage so got 2 of these.
They are nicely built and stack well.
The only negative would be the drawers do not really sit securely, they will be fine once I have them in place but don't try and move them around.
Overall I'm not disappointed with them and will actually order some more as I get settled, think I was probably asking too much for them going from commercial use to home.
For the price they are fine and will do what I want them for.
