Does what it says - up to a point!
Ok, so the item itself is well made, and comes with all the necessary fittings and fixtures to mount it to your garage joists. The instructions on fixing the hardware are clear, however, the instructions for threading the rope through the brackets and pulleys are, well, non-existent. Basically, it shows you a picture (and not even a good picture) and says if you have any problem to look on YouTube. Which I ended up doing. The system will certainly hoist the kayak off the floor of your garage. But be prepared for it not to lift your item as high as you expect i.e. out of the way (see photo for an illustration of the problem). The trouble is the straps are long and the suspending hooks and brackets 'dangle' some way below the joist. So my kayak is suspended about chest height - not up at the ceiling level. I'm going to have to resort to a bit of woodwork to move the brackets higher and also will need to source shorter straps.
