A Game Like No Other
Imagine a future that spanned a human-centric path to the stars, warring factions grew tired of conquest, tired of planets being erased of all civilization by former defenders when they could no longer hold. after a time where warships rained death onto worlds, their tactical ability faded in the face of a new, mostly agreed upon, set of rules for war. this left innovation in warfare to being primarily on improving ground warfare, and that gave rise to the most powerful and durable weapon, the Battlemech, king of the battlefield.
Battletech is a hex based game about piloting multi-ton humanoid war machines into one another, pressing all the buttons till the other guy stops moving. oh and it can be infinitely scaled up into games of galactic conquest, integrated with all manor of combined arms from infantry, ground vehicles, naval vessels, and remember those world destroying warships i mentioned? turns out you can still use them to pummel the surface of a world, although in the times of the succession wars they are so rare that a single one can change the tide of the endless war.
