Gilbert and Sullivan sparkling and beautiful as ever

My wife and I were professionals, and we sang and directed adlll these operas. This bundle is at a high level of performance, and of course tall ten of these shows are masterpieces, by a great with and a composer of beautiful music, the Rodgers and Hammerstein of their day. A unique combinatiooooon of elegance, wit and melodic beauty.

Jane Eaglen: Italian Opera Arias ~ NEW CD (Sep-2001, Sony Classical (USA))

Sumptuous soprano voice in novel repertoire (Italian).

These Italian opera arias are not Eaglen's usual repertoire, maybe because she is so heavyset. She could never perform Madame Butterfly onstage, but sounds sumptuous in it, backed by Royal Opera orchestra. Ditto the other arias.

Of interest to fans of the Verdi opera

I got it only because I'm a fan of the Verdi opera, La Forza Del Destino, and this is that opera with the music removed. I'm generally not a fan of double features that are unrelated.
