Pro-41 Radio Shack Scanner
2 of 2 found this helpful I have been listening to Radio Shack scanners since 1962 and know what used models are the best. This Pro-41 unit is one of them. An antique by today's standards but it is well made and retains its sensitivity decade after decade. Easy to program by hand and perfect to have when visiting a local fireground or police incident. Most people don't give this model a second look, even on EBay, but this unit was built in Asia and designed by Radio Shack contract engineers so its performance is exceptional. You can drop it from a 2nd floor and it will still work. Perfect for basic local listening where trunking and digital isn't required. In later years, when Radio Shack began to decline it switched to building its scanners in China which yielded an inferior product. Radio Shack scanner listeners immediately noticed the difference in quality and bought elsewhere. Radio Shack shortly thereafter discontinued its scanner products.
One on the best kept secrets on EBay is the Radio Shack scanner after market. Sophisticated scanner listeners know what used, superior models to look for and will pay a premium price to obtain one. Although the Pr0-41 is considered a relic, this unit is one of those special models.
