Improved design
This blender carafe/blade unit is an improvement over the 36 oz version that came with the ES3 blender. With a little more capacity and new lid design it works great when I blend a full load. I use my blender most every day with nutritional smoothies/shakes and have over 4000 blend cycles in the display readout. I blend fruit and vegetables with supplements WITH EASE into a consistent and smooth drinkable liquid. The commercial carafe is "pricey" but quality usually is. Both designs work great but the larger one is nicer, especially since I normally use the blender at full capacity.

Good grinder,but
1 of 1 found this helpful The quality of the grind is very good. I like the feature of selecting the amount of coffee you want to grind. But that is done with a timer and the amount ground varies some with different coursness settings and bean type. There is no other option other than select the amount of cups to grind which is approximate. It was the best quality grinder at the best price I could find when looking for a conical burr style grimder.

Makes great tasting coffee
It has its pros and cons but if you're looking for great tasting coffee than this is a good place to start. Not so quick easy and convienent but I like the coffee and plan to keep using it. I have used "real" espresso machines and realize that you're not going to get a good brew without some mess and time it takes to make a good cup. The same thing goes for "american" coffee. I have been using a drip brewer with a gold metal cone filter for the best coffee I could find until this came along. I'll choose a good cup over convinience anytime.
