One of Takashi Miike's best movies!!!
1 of 1 found this helpful This movie is amazing! The story and the actors are all great in it. The story is 2 young men are put in a prison type place for murder, they both seem to like each other and become friends but suddenly one is killed by the other and 2 police detectives are brought in to try and solve the case.
If you are a fan of Miike you will love this movie, if not and all you have heard about him is that he makes hardcore violent yakuza movies you will be surprized by this movie.
One of his best in my opinion.

The best trilogy! With a vengeance!!!
1 of 1 found this helpful If you are a fan of asian cinema chances are you will have already seen these movies before.
Collected here together for the first time is Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, Oldboy and Lady Vengeance.
All three films are bonded by theme rather than story and characters.
Sympathy for Mr Vengeance tells the story of a deaf mute who wants to raise money for an operation for his sister, he kidnaps a successful buisnessmans daughter but it all goes wrong and sets of the path of vengeance for the daughters father.
Oldboy tells the story of a man being imprisoned without reason for 15 years and suddenly released, and told he has 5 days to find out the reasons of his imprisonment. This is one of the greatest movies in modern history and the best of the trilogy in my opinion.
Lady Vengeance is the final movie of the trilogy and unlike the standard dvd release the version on this disc is a special fade to white version with adds to the atmosphere and the tone of the movie. A woman is wrongly imprisioned for murdering a child, having been a model prisoner she is released. It is when she is released we see her dark side while plotting revenge on the man who commited the crime.
All the movies here are superb and well worth a second look or three.
Now on to the extras, this collection has 6 discs, and features new material not seen on the individual released versions. The delux editions sees the set wrapped in a box similiar to the one seen in Oldboy and features 3 frameable lobby cards, an A3 poster of the blueprints for the gun used in Lady Vengeance and last but not least a small replica hammer(yes a real one)like the one used in Oldboy, which is also a bottle opener.
I'd recommend you get the delux set while you can as it is limited and very collectable.
