Great Lens
I bought this lens because I couldn't afford or justify the £500+ price of the 18-200 zoom for the Nikon D40. I am really glad I bought this lens - I love it. It takes great pictures and the larger lens diameter means a bit more light (faster f stop) especially at higher zoom settings.
The only drawback with this lens is there is a noticeable distortion at the wide angle 18mm end of the lens, however a tiny tweak of zoom removes this effect all together.
The other thing I like a lot about this lens is the feel. It is very well balanced with the camera. All in all if I'd had the extra £300 sloshing around in my pocket (which I don't) with noting else to spend it on, I might just have gone for the 18-200mm lens, but even then I would recommend this lens as a great performer for the price.

Fantastic little camera - a real second hand Gem
1 of 1 found this helpful Great little camera. Takes some nice photos. However I bought it mainly to use the CHDK "Cannon Hack" software. This turns a great little camera into an amazing camera - the features are almost limitless with the scripting ability.
What I also like about this camers is it is also a top notch SD video camera.
Oh and don't be fooled by the SD card limitation of 2 or 4MB - this camera will run SDHC cards too so up to 32MB.
All in all very pleased.
