Will NOT cool below 73!!!!

Very disappointed with this unit! My master bedroom is under 250 sq ft and this unit struggles to get room temp below 75 F. I have tried everything! The window kit is weatherproofed/air-tight, the hose is secure with no leaks, my blinds are all shut and the bedroom door bottom is plugged up with a towel...still I get awful cooling! I purchased a laser read thermometer to read the temps of the expelled hot air and the cool air. The cool air seems to be working right because I get readings of 57-60 F and the hot vent air is always 90 F give or take. So WHY ON EARTH does this unit not cool my room below 73-75 F???? I left it on for 5 hours straight and it is still warm in the room. I live in MA not even in Florida or anything like that too. Today's temp was 84 and most nights it is like 75-ish and yet my temp readings in my room are 75 F or HIGHER! My 15 year old 5k BTU window unit did a better damn job! Is my unit defective??? I am so fed up with this crap!
