This my first "real" pro tripod. others I've had were quite flimsy and not stable for a full size DSLR with a larger lens attached.. There was some comments regarding a "smell" from the case and yes there is some funky odor of some kind. I am going to try a Lysol was and see how it helps. The tripod itself is very stable and provides a versatile photo mount system. The leg extension clasps are tight, the mount plates for the camera are functional and the adjustable foot pads work well, changing from rubber pad to spikes is easy. This is a bit heavy (adding to its stability but may not be the most useful if planning to do any hiking or remote nature photography weighing in at about 8#, plus the head at about 10#.
