Ample clean power with small speakers, ideal for first system. Well built!
Many years ago in the 80s, my first proper hi-fi amp was a NAD 3020 which I replaced after about 10 years with an Arcam Alpha 7. Recently my 14 year old daughter asked me if she could use my old record deck (that vinyl comeback is no longer just a rumour) so I began searching for a suitable amp, decided a receiver would suit her better and when I saw the NAD 7020 I had no reservations and bid on it immediately. This component is well built. Although it has had many years of wear and tear it has stood up to it well. The controls are solid and positive and with a pair of TDL Nucleus 2 speakers, a Trio turntable, and Philips CD player it forms the prefect first hi-fi system for my daughter. The FM antenna is a piece of wire trailed behind the unit and the reception is more than adequate. The phono section gives a good level of gain from the moving magnet cartridge and with the TDLs bi-wired with QED Silver Anniversary cable it delivers a surprising amount of power such that the volume never needs to go above 3. I would thoroughly recommend this very capable product for a small to medium sized room for a first system.
