Older is better
The "old" coins are very think, heavy, and substantial. I find them preferable to the new ones.

NITECORE NL1475R 750mAh 14500 Built-in Micro-USB Rechargeable Li-ion Battery

Great value. Built in charger, No external charger needed!
This is a great solution for those who want a 14500 battery. No charger required! The fact that it has internal charging is a major bonus. Just plug into the micro USB port on the side of the battery and off you go, just like charging your cell phone. Has red and green LEDs on the top to indicate charging (red) and charge complete (green). Seems to work just fine and have the stated capacity. I've seen multiple reviews around the net that this is a quality battery with good protection circuitry.

Sonoff S31 works great with Tasmota firmware
I use these with the Tasmota (see https://tasmota.github.io/docs/) firmware. They work great as sensors for appliances and such. I have them hooked to my home automation system (Node-Red see https://nodered.org/) to alert me when the washer or dryer is done. It does take a bit of work to get the firmware on there in the first place. A quick google search will show you how to do it. Took me less than 15 minutes to update a unit including disassembly, programming, configuration, and reassembly. Pros: + Cases pop apart easily, no glue, so it's easy to get inside to update firmware + Works great with Tasmota firmware + Very inexpensive for such a capable device Cons: - Either solder or clip to the available pads to program the ESP8266 - You need to read between the lines a bit to get the firmware working at first
