Excellent on most levels, with a few problems
The K2600X is a mindblowing music workstation. Other than the 72-lb weight and old-school floppy disk, this instrument sounds way ahead of its 1999 production date. I'm thrilled to have gotten my hands on this instrument and plan to use it for some upcoming performances and projects. Unfortunately, nearly the entire length of the keyboard has squeaky keys. I've learned since that this is often the case with FATAR keyboards from this era. When performing in a large space with a PA, which I have already done with it, this is not a problem. However, some of my performances later this year will be in intimate spaces in which the squeaking will be irritably audible to both myself and my audience if I do not have it fixed. This fix will require pro-technician work and will cost about $300. Could be worse! Oh, it also randomly freezes. I can't figure out why, but it's upsetting. The panic button doesn't resolve this, only turning off the power and rebooting seems to work. Fortunately, this hasn't happened in a performance yet. I cringe to think that it may! All in all, I'm happy with the instrument, though can't give it a 5-star review based on the squeaky keys and the occasional freezing.
