Excellent communication tool
1 of 1 found this helpful The ft-8900R transceiver is awesome as long as you understand its designed purpose: a communications tool. It is not designed for DX on HF, or as an entry level mobile. Before purchasing, new hams should understand their license privileges as they relate to the limitations of this transceiver. Particularly that it does not do SSB mode so techs will not be able to use the 6m & 10m bands. However, its cross-band repeat function, along with its rugged construction and reasonably simple operation make it an excellent part of a preppers communication platform during grid-down or remote locations.
