Jean Leader (www.jeanleader.net) is a lacemaker, designer and teacher with experience in a wide range of laces. She teaches weekly classes in Glasgow, Scotland, and has taught workshops in other parts of Britain, the USA and Australia. Her work has been exhibited in Britain and at lace festivals in Europe, and she has demonstrated lacemaking at the Hankyu British Fair in Japan. She has contributed articles and patterns to lace-related magazines, produced a lace identification app for the iPhone, published six books on Bedfordshire and Bucks Point lace, and a book on lace identification with Gilian Dye. Jean has made a series of instructional videos with Hensel Productions in the USA: Color in Torchon, Introductory Skills in Bucks Point Lace, Intermediate Skills in Bucks Point Lace and Color in Bedfordshire Lace. She has served as Chairman for the British Lace Guild, and as President for IOLI in the US. She hosts a website providing a historical guide to lace styles (www.lacetypes.com).
