Excellent
I have read many books about Sylvia Plath and this is a good one. The author refuses to armchair diagnose her and is not dismissive of women who love Plath's work. Most significantly of all he does not treat Ted Hughes as a murderer or a tragic hero - revealing him rather to be a rather moody and inadequate man.

Disappointing
This is just endless Freudian theory. I'm interested in reading the stories of fellow fans, not ploughing through psychological and literary theory. There is a wonderful book to be written about what Plath means to people with this is not it.

For Freud fans only
Endless quotes from Freud and not much about Plath fans at all. I gave up.
