Great phone... once I flashed CyanogenMod onto it!
2 of 2 found this helpful You could not PAY ME to have used stock FireOS on this phone for more than a day. It reminded of using crappy Windows Mobile from 10 years ago. Actually, it might have been worse?
Anyway, nothing about it is intuitive, Amazon's app market is lacking, and their walled-garden-ecosystem seriously limits the appeal of using their, otherwise good, hardware.
So I followed the guide on the reddit firephone subreddit, and now I have a wonderful, open, Android experience again. Will it last forever? Will it crash and burn?
Who knows! But now that's it's unlocked, I'm seriously enjoying this phone as my daily driver. The only things I can't get to work on it is HDR mode on the camera, a barcode reading app, and Netflix. Everything else flies.
And because of the size and design, it's like getting a great iPhone running Android.
