Being a fan of Timothy Olyphant, I thought that I would enjoy this show; even if it ended up with me just getting the chance to hear his soft voice and have a good look at him throughout the season. So having watched the first series, I am totally hooked, waiting for more of the same in the second.
I must admit the surprise came in the form of actor Walt Goggins. I had caught his work in a couple of other US shows before but never paid much attention. He is totally engaging and his character goes through a transformation. He wants to blow things up but after Timothy's character, Raylan Givens (a US Marshal) shoots him - in his brother's house, in the exact same spot where his sister in law shot his brother after years of abuse - he is converted to God.
There was one disappointment though - just 13 episodes. Not even half of a usual run.
Having said that the stories are individually engaging and are well written. The characters seem well formed and well informed (clearly they behave like proper US Marshalls and the stories are realistic). My only complaint is some car scenes you can tell were filmed in a stationary vehicle with the backing put in afterwards.
Other than that, it is perfect....
