Integrates seamlessly with my other Apple devices.
Communication between my (non-Apple) smartphone, IPad, Apple TV, ICloud, IPod and partner's IPhone was clunky, laborious or non-existent. The IPhone resolves all that. The 4S has most of the 5S bells and whistles,and the camera upgrade over the 4 is particularly welcome. Buying a refurbished one is a cheap option and it is, with the exception of marginally reduced battery charge life, in all respects indistinguishable from new.

Useful flash extension
Good for small wildlife in poor light. Accurate, light and compact with significant flash distance extension.

Cheap but flawed.
Switch operation is inconsistent. Gel holder broke on first use. Charging light doesn’t work.
