Great quality, easy operation, drains quickly
I was impressed with this straight out of the box. Quality metal construction with good chrome plating and a very nice open / close action. The only problem I had fitting it was with the basin seal supplied. I cleaned everything scrupulously before fitting and tightening up but it leaked. So I stripped it down and checked for any debris. None. Carefully refitted it and part-filled the basin with water. Still leaked! The black seal from the old waste was a slightly different shape and never leaked, so I scrubbed it and fitted it again in place of the new one. No leaks! I'm not sure what was wrong with the new seal. Anyway I still give this five stars and recommend it. It's no real hassle to reuse an old seal if necessary. Looks great and excellent value. More than happy.

A really excellent printer, copier and scanner from HP. Look no further!
I bought my 3050 second-hand but in as-new condition. I had to go online for the driver and utilities you normally get on a disk as it was not included. There is no better product support than HP. After about 20mins everything was downloaded and I just needed to select the Deskjet 3050 driver on my pc.
The first thing I did was to print a jpeg image on plain paper. The result was (I thought) excellent. But then I loaded a sheet of photo paper and repeated the print. Outstanding! This picture of 3 kittens had sharp vibrant colour and the quality was good enough to frame.
Then I scanned this picture. You get a selection of resolutions to choose from but 200 dots (pixels)per inch is more than adequate. I printed the scanned file on plain paper also with excellent results.
Finally I photocopied a government vehicle form I had just completed (both sides) and the copy was virtually indistinguishable from the original.
I did wonder whether this multi-function replacement for my old HP printer would involve quality compromises but that is not the case. All the functions work really well. It is also sturdy and easy to operate from the buttons or desktop icons.
There are other printing capabilities I haven't explored as yet, including wireless connection. Mine is USB.
I only print stuff now and then and in low volume, so the print speed is fine for me. If you want to print batches of 50 sheets (say) or more then you might need a faster printer. To be fair, this excellent machine is not in that market. I printed a 30-page camera manual and it took only a few minutes.
In conclusion, this is a good-looking, solid HP product which delivered (for me at least) everything it promised. There are later versions (mine is a 3050A)and I don't know what the differences are, but my 3050A is a great machine and I thoroughly recommend it.

Good protection without bulk
Takes up hardly more space than the passport while offering good protection from fluids and external wear. Very practical.
