DC 7.9 x 5.5mm Female To Male Right Angle Power Connector Adapter for Lenovo IBM

Beware! No compatible with the 170W type Lenovo power supplys with cicrular connectors (which has two notches inside)

Problem Nr. 1: This adapter is not physically compatible with the Thinkpad W530 170W type power supply connectors. (They have the same physical sizes (inside, outside diameters exactly matches), but have two notches inside the circular connector to adjust the exact orientation of the connector.) To obtain physical compatibility I removed these two plastic notches from my power supply connector so after this I achieved physical compatibility. Problem Nr. 2: still there is not electrical voltage appearing on the output of this Right Angle Power Connector. Without the adapter the power supply works perfect as it worked before. Maybe I received a faulty unit or maybe the modification process on my power supply connector damaged the inside electric connectors of the adapter. (I tried to connect the power supply connector inside the adapter while the notches was still not perfectly trimmed out. I will order an other adapter to give an other chance.

Good to have gadget

It works well, measures charging current, voltage, time and integrates current over time. Note: It has a serial resistance of 0.05 Ohm, which adds to the charging cable resistance. Some smartphones (e.g. Samsung Note II) are sensitive for the cable resistance and decreases the charging current if it measures voltage drop on the cable. So this gadget is not recommended for professional measurements, but nobody expects this.

Driver from the installation CD did not worked for Windows 7

Driver from the installation CD did not worked for Windows 7. (The card was recognised, but did not operate.) Luckily installing the latest drivers from the manufacturer's site (FRESCO LOGIC INC.) solved the problem. Ubuntu Linux 14.04 recognised the card out of the box.
