A weird lathe, but very nice indeed.
I've liked science fiction and fantasy since I was a child, and I once read The Lathe of Heaven when I was young, and I didn't understood it completely (read: never understood it at all). We are speaking of a god-like hero that doesn't want his powers and is tormented by them: George Orr has the ability to chnge the world while he's asleep. Then, his shrink, William Haber, the bad guy of the story, who tries to manipulate George to change the world. But Haber isn't a bad guy per se, he wants George to correct the world. The last character at first feels like a bit player (albeit a well painted one), but it soon becomes clear that Heather Lalache has a pivotal role to play. There are weird things happening in the book, and you cant fully explain them: nobody can remember the changes, yet they sometimes do: George changes the weather, everybody is happy, nobody remember the city to be rainy all the time, yet you heard people in the bus complaining that the city was better when it rained every day, stuff like that. But it's a good book, and it deserves a place in your shelf along with other sci-fi and fantasy classics.

Moov Now Personal Coach & Sports Tracker Aqua Blue NEW IN BOX

The best of the cheapest band for swimmers
I got this thing to track my swimming sessions, as this is an activity most trackers can't do. So far, it has done exactly what I need, but I still have some little nitpicks. First, let's be clear, this thing is no watch. There is no screen, no vibration, no beeps, nothing, zero, nada, so you depend of the app to sync your data. Therefore, the real time measurements are on your phone, not in the tracker. Also, there is no real time tracking for swimming, and you need to manually sync the tracker to get your data. Second, it does not have biometric data. No pulse, no blood pressure, no geodata. This is a lightweight tracker that actually does not track you. Your phone and the app are the real trackers. Third, what little this thing does is actually very useful. It can accurately track your movement in three dimensions, so you know exactly what are you doing, Therefore, using it with the fitness training of the app really allows you to train. For swimming it means it can tell how many laps you've been swimming, but also what style have you been practicing. But remember it does not have geodata, so for the tracker it does not matter if you swim 10 meters or 100; you enter the pool size in the app. And fourth, the battery life on this thing is amazing. Becuse it has no screen and it only syncs when you press the single and hidden button of the tracker, and it only answers with a single blink of light. So the battery lasts months, and it is not rechargeable. It is a single CR2032 button cell, and the tracker can be opened with ease (and the included plastic tool) and still retain its waterproof characteristics. The armband and legband, made of silicone, also cover the opening, adding to the waterproof. So far I like this tracker, but perhaps I'll use it with a second band, perhaps a Xiaomi Mi band, as a watch and real time step tracker. But for swimming, this is the best thing I've managed to find.
    HP Stream Mini Desktop 20-010

A small computer for small computing needs
This is not a powerful machine nor It pretends to be one. This is the desktop version of the Stream series and you can tell this is a better deal than the laptop. Yeah, the laptop works fine, but it is very slow, because its hard drive is as slow as a mechanical drive, no better than having an SecureDigital card, and also soldered to the board; the desktop version, on the other hand, uses a small m.2 drive that is WAAAAAY faster, therefore giving a better experience than its sibling. The desktop version can be upgraded with extra memory and a different drive, even a secondary SSD drive (keep in mind my machine, which I bought used, was missing the appropriate cable, but you can find it online) or use an high speed SD card for additional storage. I use the same card in my laptop and my desktop, so I can take my data with me. But also, the laptop has two USB ports, one 2.0 and one 3.0 while the desktop has four USB 3.0 ports. It has an HDMI port, currently connected to my TV, and has wifi and Bluetooth. It is very silent and has a small footprint. I wouldn't use this little girl to crunch massive amounts of statistical analysis nor CAD blueprints, but to use office software and web browsing, it is very good.
