Bugera V22 Guitar Amplifier
Have owned numerous amplifiers over my 46 years of playing. Bought the V22 on the recommendation of my son. Extremely impressed, to say the least. Very, very quiet for a tube amp. Two channels with effects loop are great, especially if you like to run your compressor, OD/distortion(s) and wah pre, and all your modulation effects through the loop. Great tones on both channels. The triode/pentode switch on the back is awesome. The triode sound is remarkably sweet, while the pentode sound has lots of growl when the lead channel is pushed. I play a 2007 Gibson ES-335 custom and a 2000 Fender American Strat; and the amp handles both the humbuckers and the single coils really well. Great headroom for it's wattage(s). Fit and finish is good, but I would have used a plywood cabinet instead of the MDF. You get a lot of amp for the $350.00 bucks. Just sold my Fender Blues Junior and plan on buying another V22 for my home. This is probably the best bang-for-the-buck tube amp around. I just can't see paying hundreds, if not thousands, more for a 'boutique' amp, when this amp can give you just about all the sounds you're looking for. My son just dropped a grand on an AC30, and I have no problem saying that my V22 sounds as good, if not better than his Vox. I wouldn't take this amp out on regular gigs due to the cabinet construction, but if yours stays put like mine (on the stage of my church) then you've got a winner. I don't hand out praise too often on equipment, but Bugera did their homework on this and got it right!
