A WORTHY UPGRADE TO THE EOS 70D
4 of 4 found this helpful Although this camera came out in 2016 it is still excellent quality (24 MP) and utilises DIGIC 6 processing technology. It also boasts the 45 point, dual pixel, autofocus system. In addition it has a weather sealed body and can attain 7 fps for the sports oriented photographers. If you want video then this camera can go to 1080/60 video capture rate.
I upgraded from a 70D (20.2 MP) and the battery grip (BG-E 14) for that also fits this camera. So no added expense there.
The 90D may appear this year but that only promises a 65 point AF system with improved DIGIC processing but the cost will be high. So why wait if you are upgrading. Newcomers may find cheaper Canon alternatives. I have many Canon lenses, EF and EF-S, so this fits nicely into my "armoury". Highly recommended.

VERY GOOD BUT ...
This lens is very good value for money. It is sharp in the centre but soft around the edges. It is totally manual and to use it on EOS M cameras you will need to "enable" the exposure (Spanner menu) to allow the shutter to fire whether a lens is fitted or not. Otherwise the camera will not allow you to take a photograph. I would recommend this as a portrait lens or for shots where you want centre sharpness but out-of-focus surround. The lens is very well made from metal and glass elements (?) and comes with lenshood, C mount adapter for EF-M and two macro rings. I found it was not too easy to focus with the lenshood fitted but I have big hands. The technique I used was to set the shutter speed I wanted, adjust aperture to get the exposure right (on the exposure scale on screen - bottom right) then focus and shoot. This worked quite well.
