Deadwood (Series 1)
The best DVD i've bought in years. A fantastic account of power struggles in a frontier camp/town. Ian McShane is outstanding.

A portrait of corrupt border guards and greed.
A decent film portraying a man trying to redeem his sins somewhat by reuniting a Mexican girl with her baby. His sins being that he has been sucked into a corrupt border guard scam in his department mainly to pay for his greedy wife's over ambitious lifestyle.
Some fine performances by all of the cast, particularly the supports. Jack and Harvey however, being excellent actors both, seem like they only need to be at 60% for these roles.

A charming western.
A good film with a first class cast. Not my favourite KIND of western but westerns are my favourite genre of entertainment as a whole. Gene Hackman is excellent but then I have never seen him otherwise. A very entertaining film without being very violent or offensive. You could watch this with Grandad who was brought up on John Wayne !
