Ended Up Rooting For The Monster.....
I purchased this due to favourable reviews I had read. Ultimately it was a let-down.
Supplied brand new and sealed, it was value for the price.
Directed by Eduardo Sanchez of Blair Witch Project fame, this movie is technically well-done. The found-footage genre that made both his and Daniel Meyrick`s names in such a spectacular way is revisited by the director and I found it to be a bit of a misfire.
The script draws the characters in weak fashion. In fact, nearly all of them got on my nerves. I ended up rooting for the monster, who is the big plus of this movie. The actor Brian Steele does a great job, and Sanchez does well at letting us get a good look at him.
The found footage genre isn`t for everyone. I often feel it can limit the audience in identifying with characters. Sanchez is a skilful movie-maker, and Exists is worth a watch. There is a twist to proceedings, and the ending is not how you think it will pan out.
If you are a fan of monster movies and/or found footage give it a go. Anyone else will be twiddling their thumbs in around fifteen minutes.
