An enjoyable read!
I've read this novel before a long time ago, and it ages well. Its great to have a re-issue, which includes a biographical note on the author and also some photographs of places written about in the novel.

Well researched, but dull - no illustrations
For a modern book of this length, I was very surprised that there were no photographs or maps or anything, just very dense text.

An Excellent Introduction to GIlbert & Sullivan
This is a very good collection. Each DVD is introduced by Michael Douglas Junior with interesting information about the musical came to be written. The musicals are well staged, in period costume, with good singers and actors. Each DVD has the full words of all the songs as well - if you want to sing along!
