Lightweight and Lean Asus X102 a modern 'eee' PC
It is small, lightweight and versatile (eg. has a hard disk and decent set of ports including an ethernet port). The screen is quite good and keyboard adequate. The power switch and indicator lights are minimal. The battery doesn't clip out. It is really a bit underpowered/sedate for Windows especially with the constant need to feed it updates, so it really benefits from a adding a dual boot system with a lightweight operating system or booting a pen drive OS, then you have a useful customise-able 'net book' with Windows for emergencies! A small padded bag and a mouse would need to be factored in to the cost. I would suggest rather than recommend it to someone who does not want a tablet device and does not want to pay for (or carry) larger/more powerful laptop.

    Sigma SD9
First Impressions: Much has already been written by fans and detractors... Its a big heavy camera with its six batteries loaded, however it is quite intuitive to use an has enough controls to limit the need to button press and scroll through menus. The images (helped by the useful and simple RAW convertor software) are colourful, sometimes to the extent of some purple fringeing and red colour casts in detail (in this one at least!). It offers the potential of really satisfying images in the right light. Aside from being 'outpixeled' by more modern cameras it very difficult to quantify other than it is certainly not 'average': likeable & interesting classic perhaps? I am intrigued about the improvements made in later models!
