Having purchased this new I was surprised that the swr was in the region 7.5 to 8. I took it to my local club and put it on an analyser and sure enough it was way out. Upon internal inspection it was found to have a short , it would never have worked. Part of the coil was touching another component and causing the problem. By moving the coil slightly away from the offending part it all suddenly worked. Quality control would have found it if there had been any.
