perfect for your average dinner party
I am a DSLR beginner/hobbyist who wanted to start expanding my lens collections beyond the kit lenses. This lens can be used for a wide variety of situations, but I think it is summarized best with a dinner party. It can be used in dim/low-light (for example, a nice restaurant with ambient lighting) without need for a flash. The larger aperture is definitely the biggest benefit to me. Even though the lens may seem useful only for macro (close up) shots, like food, it's also great for portraits of people sitting around the table and having a good time. This lens is compact and lightweight, which makes it very portable and convenient. Please be careful to note that, while it is compatible with many Nikon bodies, the autofocus function may not work with some.

Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant
Fantastic game. Graphics are great, storyline is engaging, and characters are wonderful. Shadow Hearts doesn't have the name/legacy like Final Fantasy does, but it should get there. I was compelled to play the game despite knowing the ending and some details of the story. Its storyline is so substantial that, even knowing the ending, there was still room for surprises. The battle system is pretty interesting and for me, more engaging than most other turn-based battle systems. It uses a ring system, and it kept my attention during battles, so levelling up was not boring at all. Of the usable characters, there wasn't one that I especially disliked or irritated me. My favorite part is that Shadow Hearts takes place all over the world. Most of all, I thought it was really funny. This is one game that I really felt compelled to completely beat. Right now, I'm clocking in at slightly over 70 hours, so if you're looking for something with real weight, Covenant is perfect.
