Michael Cacoyannis director
Due to the power and beauty of this film, the director got the go ahead from 20th Century Fox to make his most famous film, Zorba the Greek. Irene Papas was in both and she is excellent.

Lamp
I had heard that in England in 1950 this had been a huge hit. Won the BAFTA for best British pic. On location photography and early Dirk Bogarde made for exciting film. Good show.
